Smith Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Offers Works by Betty Anglin Smith
Smith Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present Preservation, a collection of paintings by Betty Anglin Smith, on view from May 3 - 17, 2013. A reception will be held on May 3, from 5-8pm.
“For over 20 years my paintings have focused on the natural beauty of the Lowcountry landscape. I am drawn to the open marsh vistas, the meandering waterways, and the maritime forests. Consequently I am not alone in appreciating the appeal of the lowcountry and the area has become over this same time period, a target for development. Thanks to the unified efforts of the leaders of the conservation movement, hundreds of thousands of coastal acres have been put into conservation and preservation. Through their gospel of land stewardship, these natural landscapes will not disappear,” says Smith.
Smith is a native of the Carolinas and has firmly established herself as an enduring artist in the region. After the birth of her triplets, all now successful artists themselves, Smith pursued her training as an artist and has been painting full time ever since. Her paintings adorn the walls of private collections in the area, around the country, and abroad, her recognizable style and vibrant paintings have made her a favorite among collectors.
Smith-Killian Fine Art is Charleston’s gallery for contemporary realism and color. The gallery features works by Lowcountry painter Betty Anglin Smith and her triplets, painters Jennifer Smith Rogers and Shannon Smith, and photographer Tripp Smith. Sculptures in bronze by Darrell Davis and works in oil by Kim English are also available. Subject matter ranges from local and European landscapes to architectural works and still life.
