Vista Studios in Columbia, SC, Offers a Second Look at Works from Columbia Artists from ArtFields
Vista Studios in Columbia, SC, will present ArtFields E x t e n d e d: Columbia, featuring over 40 artists from the Columbia area who were accepted into ArtFields, the Lake City, SC, exhibition, on view in Gallery 80808, from May 24 through June 2, 2013. A reception will be held on May 24, from 5-9pm.
ArtFields took place in Lake City, SC, from Apr. 19 – 28, 2013. It was the largest arts competition of its kind in the Southeast. This 10-day epic Southern artfest featured a wide variety of art events, including an art competition, workshops, lectures, talks, public art and more. The exhibition offered 400 pieces of two- and three-dimensional artwork selected from artists in 11 Southeastern states. These original works were exhibited in more than 40 downtown businesses and other venues during the ten days of ArtFields. The competition offered $100,000 in total cash prizes. A special twist: attendees voted for their favorite to determine the $25,000 People’s Choice Award, which also factors into the $50,000 Top Prize.
The artists from Vista Studios include Jeff Donovan, Susan Lenz, Laurie McIntosh, Kirkland Smith, Laura Spong, and David Yaghijan. For this show, many artists from Columbia and the surrounding area will join them. All participating artists will display their ArtFields entry as well as an additional piece of their choice.
