Bluewood Gallery
in Brevard, NC, Features Works by Sue Hershey
Bluewood Gallery in Brevard, NC, is presenting, Perspectives on Mountain Life, featuring works by photographer Sue Hershey of Brevard, on view through June 20, 2009. The exhibit will focus on Hershey's unique and eclectic perspectives of her adopted home here in Western North Carolina.
"I believe that
no matter what part of the country one lives in there is something
visually unique about it. Those who live in Western North Carolina
are particularly lucky to be in one of the most beautiful and
interesting of areas. Yes, there are the vast mountain scapes
and majestic waterfalls, but there are also the smaller details
as well the cab of an abandoned farm truck, the texture in the
slats of an old barn, a red tin roof meeting a barn side, the
curve of a mountain lake dock, log steps on a trail. I enjoy photographing
the parts of things and leave the rest to the viewer's imagination,"
says Hershey.
Hershey has been a photographer for over 30 years. Her work has
been shown and has won awards at the School of Visual Arts in
New York City, the Dallas Center for Contemporary Art, the One
Show in Forth Worth and in fine art galleries in the Dallas/Fort
Worth metroplex.
Since arriving in Brevard, Hershey has concentrated on establishing Bluewood Gallery, with co-owner Joan VanOrman. Bluewood Gallery is known for its specialization in fine art photography. Hershey has also built a portfolio of images that reflect her perspective of this unique part of the United States.
Bluewood Gallery will
also present the exhibit, Images of Great Smoky Mountains National
Park, on view from June 23 through July 31, 2009.
