Capital Bank Plaza in Raleigh, NC, Features Works by Wayne Taylor and Merrill Shatzman

Adam Cave Fine Art will present the exhibit, The Art of Math and Language, featuring works by Wayne Taylor and Merrill Shatzman, on view in the lobby of Capital Bank Plaza in Raleigh, NC. The works will be on display from June 5 through July 24, 2009.

Enter the world of Leonardo da Vinci where math and language influence the creation of art. The two master artists represent active appearances both in the Triangle art and academic environs.

Wayne Taylor is known throughout Raleigh for his often very large, brightly colored geometric compositions, meticulously executed in flat acrylics on canvas and reflecting his intense design interest. His work demonstrates his unique ability to incorporate mathematical principles into pleasing fine art. Taylor is professor emeritus in design and architecture at North Carolina State University.

Merrill Shatzman approaches her artwork (oversized woodblock prints on paper) as the creation of a language of new and original letters and symbols incorporated in carefully crafted designs. Her projects defy realistic interpretation on any known scale. Shatzman is currently the director of Duke University's printmaking department where her skills, both as artist and teacher, are continually practiced.

Both artists are represented by Adam Cave Fine Art. This exhibit marks the first collaboration between the gallery and Capital Bank, a leading supporter of the arts in the Triangle.
