Arts Council
of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Wood Themed
Exhibit
The Arts Council of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, will present the exhibit, WOOD!, a juried show focused on wood, on view in the D. Samuel Neill Gallery from June 4 through July 3, 2010. The exhibit is being sponsored in part by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Henderson County (UUFH).
WOOD! was open to local and regional
artists and craftspeople; the categories were carved, turned,
constructed, and paintings or two-dimensional wall art with trees
or similar wood-related subjects. Prizes will be awarded
for Best of Show ($200), 1st Place in each of the four categories
($100 each), and 2nd Place in each category ($50 each).
"We have an active Arts Committee at the UUFH and feel that
encouraging the expression and appreciation of creativity
both within our fellowship and in the community supports
our fundamental beliefs and traditions," said Richard DeSimone. "The
Arts Council performs a valuable service within the community
and we are pleased to support its programs."
"As a nonprofit cultural organization we rely upon the financial support of many generous individuals, businesses and other community institutions to help us present exhibitions for the enjoyment and enlightenment of our residents and tourists," offered Jim Faucett, executive director of the Arts Council. "Our supporters are as diverse as the exhibitions we feature we welcome the generosity of the Fellowship."
WOOD! is also sponsored by the Times-News.
The Arts Council of Henderson County is a community organization that advocates for the arts and provides opportunities to enrich the lives of children and adults through the arts by offering exhibits, art education and performances. The Arts Council offices and gallery are handicapped accessible.
