The Cheryl Newby
Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, Features Works by Martha dePoo
and Paula Holtzclaw
The Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, is presenting the exhibit, A Summer Show of Works by Martha dePoo and Paula Holtzclaw, featuring an exhibition of twenty four paintings by two award winning southern painters both of whom depict the lowcountry in their works but with very different approaches, on view through July 25, 2009.
Martha dePoo
Viewers will be treated to the colorful watercolors of Martha dePoo who executes her paintings with authority and a touch of humor as she depicts life, both past and present, in the lowcountry. A third generation artist from Florida, dePoo has been represented by the Cheryl Newby Gallery since 2006 and her paintings have become increasingly popular and widely collected. From her richly hued watercolors, characters appear who radiate the joy and pace of life in the lowcountry. Personalities emanate from her paintings through an amazing gift for conveying body language. Twelve new works by dePoo will be exhibited in the show.
Paula Holtzclaw
Award winning NC artist Paula Holtzclaw has created eight lowcountry landscapes and four still-life oil paintings for this exhibition. Holtzclaw has received recognition and honors for her paintings around the US, and in 2008 she received The "Best of America 2008" Award from the National Oil and Acrylic Painters of America Society during the Annual National Juried Exhibition in Bolivar, MO. She also won the "Award of Merit" at the 2007 American Women Artist National Juried Competition in Scottsdale, AZ. This will be Holtzclaw's debut show at the gallery.
