The Society
of Bluffton Artists in Bluffton, SC, Features Works by Joy Lillith
Hermann
The Society of Bluffton Artists in Bluffton, SC, will present the exhibit, Escape the Ordinary, featuring paintings by creative Impressionist Joy Lillith Hermann, on view from July 13 through Aug. 22, 2009.
Hermann's father who
graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago was her inspiration
for loving nature. He would say "look beyond the obvious
in nature, as there is a beauty that constantly changes". She
has a passion for texture and unusual surfaces. In fact,
that could be her trademark. Hermann paints nature and captures
its reflections with the synergy of paint. With air brush,
glazes and brush, she weaves color, texture and an aura of fantasy
and spontaneity. Always innovative on her artistic journey
and always adding new and exciting work to her ever-changing collection.
Hermann's, first formal art class was at Cal State-Fullerton in
1974. Before leaving St. Louis in 2005, she was the only
artist invited to display at the Rockwood Framing Gallery (2003-2004). She
apprenticed with Roy Schallenberg in 2007 and has exhibited in many
local art shows since moving to Bluffton.
