July Issue 2010
Charleston Artist
Guild in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Ginny Versteegen
The Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Low Country Impressions, featuring works by Ginny Versteegen, on view from July 1 - 31, 2010.
By turns, Versteegen's
paintings provide a journal of life in the Low Country. From
the quiet majesty of the marsh, to the hustle and bustle of the
city to the simplicity of the Farmer's Market, the artist captures
glimpses of an inspiring, "insiders" view of low
country life. Sharing the images with viewers by using the
warm palette of the area, she has assembled a colorful collection
of landscapes and still lives rendered in oils.
Versteegen was selected as the 2010 Charleston Farmers Market
Artist. Peter Piper's Peppers, the award winning
image that has been reproduced on Posters, Aprons and T shirts
and bags, is part of the Market Series that she created. These
items may be found at the Charleston Farmers Market at Marion
Square on Saturday mornings.
Versteegen's prize winning
marsh series will be included in this exhibit. Quiet scenes
with strong color and light are found in this series. The magical
skies and water reflections are often interrupted with the
graceful presence of the magnificent marsh wildlife in this collection
oil paintings.
Versteegen's artwork is found in many collections at home and
abroad. Before making her home in Mount Pleasant, SC, she
resided in many states across the US as well as, Brazil, Holland
and Spain. All of these experiences have given her work an
international flair. Versteegen's degree in Art Education (Edinboro
University, PA) has enabled her to teach in many schools
in the US. Working with children and sharing her lifelong love
of art has given Versteegen a rewarding career in art throughout
the years.
