Green Rice Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Kate Vasseur
Green Rice Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Terrain, featuring works by Kate Vasseur, on view from Aug. 6 - 29, 2010.
The word "terrain" defined is a tract of land with reference to its natural features - Nature, with its sometimes vague, whimsical beauty - glimpses of spaces that recall surroundings before they were cluttered with all of our "necessities". The ambiguous forms of faded tree lines and strokes of motion give the viewer a sense of connection to places they may have been long ago, or places in their mind's eye they would go, if given the chance.
Inspiration for the works in this series are the natural scapes that surround us as well as the woodgrain on the panels on which Vasseur paints. She appreciates exploring many forms when creating. Landscapes have always been special to her and are the pieces that resonate most in her portfolio.
