August Issue 2010
Providence Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Paula Holtzclaw, Sheryl Stalnaker
and Dru Warmath
Providence Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Vantage Point, featuring paintings by three of Providence Gallery's stable of artists, Paula Holtzclaw, Sheryl Stalnaker and Dru Warmath. The exhibition will be on display from Aug. 3 - 31, 2010.
Holtzclaw, Stalnaker and Warmath celebrate the beauty and ever-changing mood of the Carolina Lowcountry in their compositions in oil and acrylics-done en plein air and in studio. While their common subject matter is often inspired from the same locales, their individual choice of palette, technique, and interpretation are each distinct, allowing the observer to contemplate familiar sites from new and diverse perspectives.
Holtzclaw's seascape, landscape and particularly her marsh scene compositions, inspired by locales stretching across the coastline of Southeastern United States have been featured in such magazines as American Artist and Southwest Art. Her thoughtful compositions depicting areas unspoiled by industrialism and other human intrusion have earned inclusion in juried exhibitions sponsored by multiple art associations including, American Women Artists, Women Artists of the Southwest and Oil Painters of America.
An avid plein air painter, Stalnaker has garnered critical acclaim for her work, with award winning oil paintings that have been featured in numerous juried shows to her credit, including exhibitions at the distinguished Telfair Museum of Art Fair in Savannah, GA, and the Piccolo Spoleto Exhibitions, a national arts event held annually in Charleston, SC.
Like Holtzclaw and Stalnaker,
Warmath composes artworks which are steeped in atmosphere. In
her paintings she uses abstraction and an emphasis on the interplay
of color relationships to convey her intuitive approach and response
to the world around her.
