Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, NC, Offers Works by Ingrid A. Erickson

Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, NC, is presenting an exhibit of cut paper and mixed media works by Salisbury, NC, artist, Ingrid A. Erickson, on view in the Caldwell Arts Council’s Art-in-Healing Gallery, through Sept. 27, 2013.

Erickson’s work has a strongly environmental focus. She studies flowers, grasses, trees, and birds in their native environments. While her work draws upon the study of specific species of birds, plants, and other organisms, it involves artistic transformation and imaginative rendering of species, rather than photorealism or botanical illustration.

Caldwell Arts Council’s Art-in-Healing Gallery is located inside the Mulberry Street entrance to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, and is open 7am-8pm daily. This project is supported by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.

The Caldwell Arts Council has been promoting and presenting high quality arts in Caldwell County since 1976. In addition to the gallery programs, the Caldwell Arts Council offers a large Artist-in-Schools program. This program is a partnership program with the Caldwell County Schools. Theater, dance, music, and more are presented to the children of Caldwell County, providing them with experiences that rival those of children in large cities.
