Green Rice Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Susan Nuttall
Green
Rice Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Textures
of Nature, featuring works by Susan Nuttall, on view from
Sept. 4 - 27, 2009.
As an artist, Nuttall is continually excited by the properties
of color, light and shadow as they reflect the image and her own
sense of time, place and inner harmony. Using thumbnail sketches,
she lays out an idea with a very rough notion of the compositional
elements. Once satisfied that she has an idea worth pursuing,
Nuttall begins her work.
Paying great attention to detail in the composition, Nuttall values all of the elements in any given work as she breathes life into each piece. She mostly uses the technique of texturing with oils, giving her paintings their very own style. All paintings are heavily textured to represent the different textures of nature and their colors.
"I am fascinated with both the visual elements and my own emotional needs as an artist. I must find harmony, color and form in each painting. Once completed, each piece must stand on its own," says Nuttall.
