College in Greer, SC, Features Works by Mitchell Lonas
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at the Greer, SC, campus of Greenville Technical College is pleased to be exhibiting Architecture in Nature, featuring the works of Asheville, NC, based artist Mitchell Lonas, on view through Sept. 30, 2009.
The exhibit features large scale interpretations combining sculptural and drawing concerns. Executed on polished aluminum surfaces, Lonas effectively exploits a reflective surface quality while depicting the delicacy and complexity of natural forms. By challenging himself with unconventional methods and materials he presents the viewer with a fresh context in which to consider the beauty of these architectural structures.
