Gallery 317
in Lincolnton, NC, Features Works by Scott Boyle
Gallery 317 in Lincolnton, NC, will present an exhibit of oil paintings by landscape artist, Scott Boyle of Bessemer City, NC, on view from Sept. 1 - 23, 2010.
Plein air landscape
artist Scott Boyle recreates a sense of place and emotion, with
shapes, color, texture, and balance. He strives to capture the
harmony and essence of beauty in the world around us representing
familiar vistas in North Carolina and beyond. Boyle says he finds
North Carolina is one of his favorite states, full of beauty and
mystery to be explored by the outdoor landscape painter. He spends
much of his effort doing just that.
At an early age Boyle was recognized to have an unusual ability
to draw and his parents seized the opportunity by providing private
art lessons at the early age of seven. He was fortunate to have
been influenced by a rich heritage of traditional Indiana painters
from Beech Grove. By the time he was sixteen, he had won over
four-dozen awards and sold sixty-five oil paintings.
During that time, Boyle had one eye on the sky with a great interest
in aviation. Later he attended Indiana State University, graduating
in 1984 to become a pilot. Today he still flies part-time often
using his travels to paint and study from other locations as well
as visiting art museums whenever possible.
"Scott's artistic passion is painting outdoors from life or plein air," states gallery owner, Karen Banker, "It helps him see the color of light upon objects and gives him opportunity to study the quickly changing moods of light upon the landscape; something a camera can rarely do."
Leaning toward the contemporary,
Gallery 317 offers original works and limited editions in a variety
of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, glass,
ceramics, photography, metal, exotic wood, and bronze.
