RedSky Gallery
- EpiCentre in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Lambeth Marshall
& Susan Webb Lee
The RedSky Gallery -
EpiCentre in Charlotte, NC, will present an exhibition of ceramics
by Lambeth Marshall and quilts by Susan Webb Lee, on view from
Sept. 17 through Oct. 13, 2010.
Lambeth Marshall
Lambeth Marshall has been working in clay for twenty-six years, with prior experience as a painter and landscape designer. She studied ceramics and design at the University of North Carolina, Queens College, and Central Piedmont Community College in North Carolina. In the past eighteen years she has also studied with internationally known potters and designers and completed work at the Penland School of Crafts.
Marshall's new raku work is part of her Landscape Series which catch the color of the sunlight, landscape and storms. She uses simple, clean thrown and hand built forms as her canvas. After pieces are fired they are placed in a reduction chamber. This reduction of oxygen creates the silver, gold and luster colors and the weather and atmosphere can create mystical happenings in the glazes.
Susan Webb Lee
Susan Webb Lee has been making one-of-a-kind art quilts since the late 1970's. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, and her work is included in public and private collections both in the United States and in Europe. Lee's interest in textiles grew out of her fascination with the processes of dyeing, painting, and printing on fabric. She uses batik (resist) processes to produce unique printed and painted designs, and uses her fabric yardage in conjunction with commercially produced textiles.
RedSky Gallery features original works on paper and canvas, sculpture, ceramic, glass, studio furniture, art-to-wear, jewelry, and more. Over 500 regional and national artists are represented at two gallery locations in Dilworth and the EpiCentre in Uptown.
